Google Earth

I am hoping to work on google earth today. I think this application is something that I can really use in the library media center. Of course before we can use it in the media center we have to download it.  That is easier said than done! I can get one of the tech people to do the download, hopefully this summer, I am concerned what this application will only serve to further slow our already impossibly sluggish  network. But it is worth trying. I can see using this with English classes to get the setting of a story (i.e follow the path of Huck Finn), or for a foreign language class to see what a city may look like and then to create a tour. I can also see many applications with special needs students. But before I can show this to classes I have to become a lot more comfortable with it.

    Debra,

Yes, if you want people to enjoy your work it Glogster.com can be useful. I am having trouble trying to find the right sticky notes or frames to go with my photos. I wonder if you can import your own photos to use as frames? A wonderful tool for you to give students! They can work on their projects until they get it right anywhere in the world. Later they can print out. I especially like the video ability. I actually found one on how to clean a book, by a student!

    Debra,

Your right, it can be a memory hog. The recommendation I received was that you don’t load it on everything. I would just load it one 1 or 2 desktops! I added it back in May but did not have a clue on how to use it. Now I can really see how great it can make my lessons!
Introduce it using the SMARTboard rather than the whole class. Good luck! I
